Trust centre
An always-worn recorder has to earn trust first.
So here is exactly what happens to your audio — where it goes, who can reach it, how long we keep it, and what we will never do with it.
At a glance
The short version.
- TLS 1.2 or better in transit
- AES-256 encrypted at rest
- Audio encrypted on the device before it syncs
- Data kept in a single Azure region — never copied out for processing
- Transcription on a Whisper model we host — never a third-party AI API
- Never sold, never used to train models
- Delete removes the audio itself, not just the list entry
- Full export of everything we hold, on request
The four commitments
What we hold ourselves to.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
Every upload travels over TLS 1.2 or better. Audio and transcripts are stored encrypted with AES-256 in Azure, and access to that storage is limited to the service accounts that need it.
Never sold, never trained on
Your recordings and transcripts are yours. They are not sold, not shared with advertisers, and not used to train public AI models. Our transcription runs on models we operate, not a consumer API.
You control which mode is on
Ambient and Focused are both yours to choose. The status light shows whenever the pendant is capturing, one press pauses it, and the app always shows the current mode. There is no hidden state.
Deleting means deleting
Removing a recording removes the stored audio, not just the row in a list. Deleting your account erases every recording, transcript, summary, reminder and device pairing we hold.
Answered plainly
The hard questions.
If something here is not clear enough, write to privacy@dehertz.com and we will answer it properly.
- Where is my data stored?
- Recordings and transcripts are stored in Microsoft Azure. Audio blobs and the database sit in the same region, and we do not copy customer audio to other regions for processing.
- Does anyone at deHertz listen to my recordings?
- No, not as a matter of course. Engineers do not browse customer audio. The only circumstance in which a person would access a specific recording is if you ask us to investigate a problem with it, and we will tell you when that happens.
- Is my audio used to improve your AI?
- No. Transcription runs on a Whisper model we host ourselves, and your audio is not added to any training set. Summarisation is performed per-request; nothing is retained by the model for training.
- What happens if I lose the pendant?
- Recordings already synced remain in your account and are unaffected. Anything still on the device is not accessible without pairing it to your account, and you can unpair a lost device from the app so it cannot sync again.
- How long do you keep my recordings?
- Until you delete them. We do not expire recordings on a schedule. If you close your account, everything is erased at that point rather than retained.
- Can I get everything you hold about me?
- Yes. Write to privacy@dehertz.com and we will export your recordings, transcripts and account record. We will also delete all of it on request.
- Do you record people who have not consented?
- That is your responsibility, and the law varies by country and emirate. The pendant is deliberately visible and its status light shows when it is capturing, so recording is something done openly rather than hidden. We recommend telling people you are recording, always.
- Do you have a DPA?
- We can sign a data processing agreement for business customers. Write to partners@dehertz.com and we will send it over.
Working through a security review?
We will answer a questionnaire and sign a DPA.
